Structure of swimEC

swimEC Council

Broad oversight of the development, maintenance and promotion of the swimEC standards is carried out by the swimEC Council.

The Council is an unincorporated body of a maximum of 12 members drawn from the following organisations:

  • The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) - 4 Representatives
  • Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA) - 4 representatives
  • Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) - 4 representatives
  • The Association for Payroll Specialists (TAPS) - 1 representative
  • Government Regulators - 1 representative

The purpose, objective and structure of the Council are set out in the swimEC Charter (pdf - 50 Kb).

Standards Working Groups

The standards development work is undertaken by Standards Working Groups (SWGs).

The SWGs are specific purpose working groups that:

  • Prepare standards for a particular message flow in the superannuation, wealth management and investment management environments (eg. Superannuation Registration & Contributions SWG, Wholesale Managed Funds SWG)
  • Address specific issues relating to electronic transactions (eg. Security SWG)

Each SWG exists for a finite period to undertake functions and specific tasks (by following appropriate analytical processes) and is disbanded at the completion of the work. SWGs may be reactivated as required to undertake additional tasks related to their function
